Dear brothers and sisters, peace to you
Forty years ago (1981), I moved to Dallas from Texas A&M University to begin my theological study at Dallas Theological Seminary. During that summer, while studying Greek, I visited churches and Bible study classes all over the metroplex, including the Bible study class before the establishment of DCFC. At that time, brothers and sisters were very concerned about the work of Vietnamese refugees.
In a blink of an eye, 40 years have passed. I can't imagine that God has wondrously led my wife and I back to Dallas from Malaysia. Moreover, during the pandemic, we were able to overcome all obstacles and come to serve as the interim senior pastor of DCFC. It is completely God's grace to have brought us here.
Over the past year or so, the pandemic seems to be tormenting us endlessly. Church gatherings have moved from physical to online in the early days of the pandemic, and recently returned to physical from online, but online gatherings are still maintained.
When my wife and I were about to leave Malaysia for the United States on July 24 this year, a church leader had asked me, "Why do you still go to USA to pastor in the midst of such a precarious pandemic?" I replied, "We learn to live a normal life in the new normalcy."
Brothers and sisters, I hope you can put aside the fears and troubles that the pandemic has brought us and to actively trust the Lord and rely on Him to live a normal life in this new normalcy. Let us pursue Christlikeness together, as James chapter 1 says:
"2 Consider it great joy, my brethren, when you face trials of many kinds, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 But let perseverance work so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
Dear friend, if you have not believed in Jesus, may you trust in Him as your Savior, who loved you, died for your sins, and rose again on the third day. If you have questions about Jesus, we would love to set up a time to talk with you.
Dear brothers and sisters, if you have believed in the Lord, may you continue to trust in Him every day to save you to live a victorious life.
We extend our warmest welcome to you to worship and serve with us in DCFC.
